It is the treatment of the teeth with loss of form, shape and size using adhesive systems. Bonding application can also be named as Composite Laminate, Diastema Closure, Composite Veneer.
The basis of adhesive systems is micromechanical attachement of the bonding agents to the tooth tissue and the filling materials. These agents, which provide maximum adhesion with minimal abrasion and preparation on the tooth surface, require technical precision in terms of application. It consists of hydrophilic chains attached to the teeth and hydrophobic chains attached to the filling material. These chains fill the microscopic size gaps on the tooth surface, and the tooth and filler material form a tight and strong bond. The most intense color restorative material is applied by evaluating the color of the tooth to the missing parts of the prepared tooth or to the regions where the joint will be made. The advantage of the technique is that it provides a painless treatment, except in very rare cases, with almost no loss of tooth.
The biggest advantage of these bonding applications is considered as no shaving requirement for reshaping. Especially people with a gap between their teeth, can have them closed in half an hour without the need to shave the side teeth.
If the teeth are shorter than normal it makes people look older. If the teeth are not visible, when people laugh or talk, the teeth can be extended and a more dynamic look can be achieved. In this way, visually beautiful teeth can be obtained.
Bondings can be used between 5-10 years. Biting and breaking hard objects should be avoided. Bad habits such as nail-eating and pen-biting can also shorten the life of these aesthetic fillers.
If minor changes are required, bonding treatment is applied. Porcelain laminate application is preferred for aesthetic treatments to be performed on many teeth. Each patient's condition varies. Therefore, consultation of a dentist is required for the most appropriate aesthetic treatment.
