Laser Teeth Whitening
Laser whitening activates a bleaching gel with light energy, lightening the teeth by several shades in a single appointment at the clinic.
Overview
Laser tooth whitening works by having a specialist dentist apply a hydrogen peroxide solution to your teeth and activate it with a dedicated laser. Where needed, the treatment can be supported afterwards with a home whitening kit.
How the appointment goes
Oral hygiene needs to be good before whitening, and a scale and polish is carried out first if necessary. Where hygiene is not yet sufficient, the treatment the patient actually needs comes first.
Laser whitening can be completed in a single session. If the shade achieved is not light enough, a second session with your dentist's approval can take it further; three to five days between the two is enough.
How long does it last?
That varies with age and with what you eat and drink, but the teeth never return fully to their old colour. Watch those habits and keep your teeth clean and the result lasts longer.
A top-up can be done when needed; after about a year, whitening can be maintained with a home kit.
Why patients choose laser whitening
- It can be done in one session, with a second added on your dentist's advice if needed.
- Teeth never go fully back to their old colour.
- It has no proven side effects; sensitive teeth may be briefly sensitive for around 24 hours.
- After roughly a year the brightness can be kept up with a home whitening kit.
